Last week, I had such a great time down in Rotorua for my exhibition opening. I had been invited by the Rotorua Museum to talk before members of the arts community. It was an honor and privilege to discuss family history and the choices my great grandparents made, that had a positive effect on the community at that time. They opened an orphanage and fostered underprivileged children from Maori and pakeha families. My oil paintings are just an interpretation of emotion from stories, photographs and documentation from that era.The exhibition was a success and my visit was incredibly welcoming. My husband and I had been put up for a night in cultural themed rotorua accommodation where we later had an after drinks gathering and celebratory hangi which was very much appreciated.
The arts and community are my world
