History of the Hysteroscope

The hysteroscope has a surprisingly long history. It’s first known appearance came about in 1869, the procedure was not a success at all due to the elementary tools implemented. For hundreds of years, there was no sight or mention of this tool because of it’s limited amount of success. It made it’s second appearance in the 1970′s when better tools were available. At that time, CO2 was used to distend the uterine, which is not the most common practice used today. The use of water in this procedure is also no longer used due to several complications that can occur while using it.
