Djembe drums are a large goblet shaped musical instruments. They mainly consist of a wooden frame or shell which is covered by animal skin or rawhide. A standard djembe drum would be around 12 inches in diameter and 24 inches in height. Djembe drums of smaller size are also available. The goblet shape of the djembe drums forms a structure of the device which is termed as the Helmholtz resonator in physics. This resonator is responsible for the deep bass notes produced by these drums. A wide range of tones can be made with the help of the Djembe drums.
